Extending the Kingdom of God?

Andrew Perriman made the effort to clarify some ambiguous usages of terms like New creation, Spirit, blessing and the Kingdom of God, in which he argues that:

the New Testament tells a longer story that culminates in the vindication or justification of the Son of man community against the pagan imperial powers that opposed it – that is, against Rome. But the main point to grasp is that the ‘kingdom’ language defines not the missional practice of the church but the action of God to safeguard the integrity and autonomy of his new creation people, not least when they come under attack from the nations and cultures that surround them. The kingdom is not something that the church builds but something that was announced. When Jesus teaches his disciples to pray ‘Your kingdom come…’, what he has in mind is not the mission of the church but the coming transformation of Israel’s circumstances – the defeat of Israel’s oppressors, the restoration of the people, and the giving of the kingdom to the Son of man.

Alternatives can be good…

Trillian, Firefox, AVG, Audacity, 7-zip… these are superior alternatives to a lot of $$ and/or crappy software you might use everyday.

Fighting spam comments

To fight the super-annoying spam comments, I am now using wp-spamfree. With it, you don’t need to enter any word or character from the captcha image anymore!! Seems like it is working pretty well, for it says that WP-SpamFree has blocked 184 spam comments since I installed it yesterday!

Can you do me a favor and do some comment-testing to see if it is really working properly?

Update: Thanks Chung for suggesting, I am now giving Akismet another try.

Auntie Grace visited

Last night we had dinner with mom’s long-time friend auntie Grace. Can you imagine to have a friend for over 60 years?! Also great is that my sister came back from Shanghai as well. And Jocelyn was so happy “test-driving” Gu Ma’s new “mighty machine”!!

Tree-planting!

Jocelyn says:

Hello everybody! We went tree-planting today after worship. Leighton and I planted 2 trees today, even though they looked more like sticks to me. The place is really close to my house, and Daddy said we might be able to come visit our little trees from time to time!

This is our Heavenly Father’s world.  We need to take care of it and that means planting lots of trees!

My genes make me do it… no?

Dr. Dean Ornish shares new research that shows how adopting healthy lifestyle habits can affect a person at a genetic level. For instance, he says, when you live healthier, eat better, exercise, and love more, your brain cells actually increase. And new findings show that a healthier lifestyle can turn off disease-provoking genes and turn on the good ones.

Learn how to use your tools

If you made the decision to use powerpoint as your tool to do presentations, for heaven’s sake, learn how to use it!!! I mean, learn how to use it effectively and engagingly.

Just a couple pointers:

re: earth day

No, I don’t worship the earth neither. I just do it in accordance to the creation mandate laid out in Gen. 1 & 2 — a mandate which Christians as the NEW creation ought not to neglect!
