Re: The Biblical Story in 50 words
Anson recent post on The Biblical Story in 50 words is interesting. But I do have some reservations on some of the “what” doing “what” — e.g. I think almost half of the 50 words are devoted to describe events that can be found on the first 2 books of the OT is a mistake. And I definitely don’t think that (or only that) “Anger” was “crucified” on the cross….
Since I am having problem commenting on his site (Anson, please check), I want to point out here that Goldingay also made a similar list in his Old Testament Theology:
God Began (Creation)
God Start Over (From Eden to Babel)
God Promised (Israel’s Ancestors)
God Delivered (The Exodus)
God Sealed (Sinai)
God Gave (The Land)
God Accommodate (From Joshua to Solomon)
God Wrestled (From Solomon to the Exile)
God Preserved (Exile and Restoration)
God Sent (The Coming of Jesus)

Yeah, I noticed that you posted numerous times but it didn’t show up. I just tested it and it works. Perhaps you want to try posting again =)
And yeah, I wondered where did all the judges go, and what happened to the exile and the return… I didn’t quite get the “Anger” line as well, but I guess it is used as a subject…..well, the Goldingay version definitely seems better. And I like that God is the subject for all of them =)
(Oh btw, did you miss the last one “God exalted”?)
Hmm, let’s inspire other Christian bloggers to have a little contest. If we were to write our own biblical storyline in this format, how would we lay it out? I think it would be a good exercise to test our familiarity of the biblical narrative. The world desperately needs to hear and we Christians need to be able to retell a large enough story again.
