Eunice of MGC sent this out in email earlier, which makes me think if the story should really end like that…..

One Sunday morning during service, a 2,000 member congregation was surprised to see two men enter, both covered from head to toe in black and carrying submachine guns.

One of the men proclaimed,

“Anyone willing to take a bullet for Christ remain where you are.”

Immediately, the choir fled…
the deacons fled…

and most of the congregation fled….

Out of the 2,000 there only remained around 20.

The man who had spoken took off his hood…

He then looked at the preacher and said
“Okay Pastor, I got rid of all the hypocrites… Now you may begin your service. Have a nice day!”

And the two men turned and walked out.

But the story does not end there. Let me continue with what I think happened…

As the two men turned and walked out, they noticed the preacher was walking out as well.

“Preacher, where are you going? Shouldn’t you be preaching now?” The 2 men were puzzled.

“Yes, I am going to preach, but not here.”

“Not here? But this is your church, where else can you go?” One of the gun-men asked.

“Those that stayed will have no need of me. I have to go — to stay among those that fled, to re-introduce this Jesus to them. He is the Lord of life whom bring them peace, not fear — this is my calling.”

“But I thought I did you a favor by cleaning up your church, didn’t I?”

“Yes, you cleaned up the church — a church which no one can go or will go anymore. What good does that make? It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick….For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners. (Matt 9:12-13)”

“And there is one more reason why I have to go,”

“What’s that?”

“I have to take you to the police. That’s part of the Christian’s duties too.”

And this time, the 2 gun-men fled.
